I believe that it is an excellent idea to extend the school year. Schools have been doing that for years with no detrimental effects to their students. If students have more time to devote to in class learning i believe that it logically lead to better overall performance. I went to a charter school that had longer school days and mandatory Saturday classes and I enjoyed the extra time spent at school. We were able to focus on the arts and music during the extra instruction time and i grew an appreciation for the fine arts. I think that Alexandria should be able to expand their school year for the benefit of the students.
